Who We Are

Southern Cross Jiu-Jitsu Academy (SCJJA) is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy located at Unit 1A, 2 Resolution Drive, Caringbah NSW 2229, Australia. We operate the following websites:

• www.scjja.com — our main website
• trial.scjja.com — our adult trial registration page
• kids.scjja.com — our kids & teens registration page

This Privacy Policy applies to all three sites and to any personal information we collect through them. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

What Information We Collect

When you submit a trial registration or enquiry form on any of our websites, we collect:

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your phone number
• Any additional information you choose to provide in the comments field (such as your child's age or questions)

We do not collect payment information through our websites. Any payments are handled separately and in person at the academy.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide solely to:

• Contact you to confirm your trial class booking
• Answer any questions you've asked
• Send occasional updates about classes, timetable changes, or relevant academy news — only if you've indicated you're happy to receive these

We do not use your information for automated marketing, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to your enquiry or membership with SCJJA.

Who We Share Your Information With

Nobody. We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing purposes. Full stop.

Your data is stored in our internal membership database, which is accessible only to SCJJA staff and Coach Rodney Ellis.

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or in response to a valid request from a government or law enforcement authority.

How Long We Keep Your Information

If you register for a trial but don't go on to become a member, we will retain your contact details for up to 12 months in case you wish to revisit your enquiry. After that, your details are deleted from our system.

If you become a member, we retain your information for as long as your membership is active, and for up to 7 years afterwards in accordance with Australian record-keeping requirements.

Cookies and Website Analytics

Our websites do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We use basic server-side analytics to track page visits and referral sources — this does not identify you personally.

Google Tag Manager is loaded on our main website (scjja.com) and may set cookies associated with Google Analytics. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time using Google's opt-out tool.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access. Our websites use HTTPS encryption for all data transmission. Our member database is password-protected and access is restricted to authorised staff only.

No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

• Correct any information that is inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete
• Request deletion of your personal information (subject to any legal retention requirements)
